FISHING ROD – 2015
Designing and prototyping the fibreglass fishing rod the main objective was to create an object which disregarded the modern highly engineered and gendered fishing rods, to create a one off handcrafted instrument. Instead of creating stereotypical semiotics such as pink for girls and black for boys the design moves towards a neutral aesthetic, with materials and colours that appease the individual somewhat because of their imperfect nature. The fully functional three-piece design all made by hand in many ways hopes to pay homage to the recreational activity of fishing itself highlighting the art form that it truly is.
